Whitelisting players by their Steam Hex ID is the most reliable way to secure your FiveM GTA RP server from griefers and unauthorized visitors. Because Steam Hex is tied directly to a player's permanent Steam account, bans and whitelist status cannot be bypassed by simply re-installing GTA V.
As outlined in our comprehensive Steam Hex ID for FiveM & GTA RP Guide, every individual Steam profile has a unique 64-bit ID that translates into a 16-character hexadecimal string beginning with 1100001.
Prerequisites Before Whitelisting #
Before granting access, ensure you have:
- The applicant's Steam profile link or SteamID64.
- Their converted Steam Hex ID via the SteamID Converter.
- Access to your server's
server.cfg, txAdmin panel, or MySQL database.
Method 1: Whitelist via txAdmin (Fastest Method) #
If your server runs txAdmin (the default server manager bundled with FXServer):
- Open your txAdmin Web Dashboard (
http://your-server-ip:40120). - In the left navigation menu, click Whitelist.
- Click the Add Identifier button.
- Select
steamfrom the identifier dropdown. - Paste the player's 15-character hex ID (e.g.,
1100001000056ba). - Click Save. The player can now join immediately without requiring a server reboot.
Method 2: Whitelist via MySQL Database (oxmysql / QBCore / ESX) #
Roleplay frameworks store whitelist permissions in a SQL database. Run the following query in your database manager:
-- Replace with the applicant's Steam Hex ID and name
INSERT INTO `users_whitelist` (`identifier`, `whitelisted`, `notes`)
VALUES ('steam:1100001000056ba', 1, 'Approved application #1042');
Method 3: Granting Staff Permissions via ACE in `server.cfg` #
If the player is a staff member or moderator, add their identifier directly into server.cfg:
# Add Moderator Access
add_principal identifier.steam:1100001000056ba group.moderator
# Allow specific moderating permissions
add_ace group.moderator command.kick allow
add_ace group.moderator command.freeze allow
